-BIODIVERSITY-

The Lebialem Highlands is remarkable in its incredibly high biodiversity, for both fauna and flora, even for Cameroon, with the potential for many new discoveries to science. A global biodiversity hotspot, it ranks amongst the five most biologically diverse regions of Central Africa, both in terms of numbers of globally threatened species as well as endemic species

Key species on the IUCN red data list include the Cross River Gorilla (critical) Nigerian Cameroon Chimpanzee, Drill, Goliath Frog, Bannerman's Turaco (endangered)  Forest Elephant and Grey necked Rockfowl.
