- Biodiversity -

The Lebialem Highlands is remarkable in its incredibly high biodiversity, for both fauna and flora, even for Cameroon, with the potential for many new discoveries to science. A global biodiversity hotspot, it ranks amongst the five most biologically diverse regions of Central Africa, both in terms of numbers of globally threatened species as well as endemic species 

​

Key species on the IUCN red data list include the Cross River Gorilla (critical) Nigerian Cameroon Chimpanzee, Drill, Goliath Frog, Bannerman's Turaco (endangered)  Forest Elephant and Grey necked Rockfowl.
